Hertz in Cologne
You'll find the city of Cologne in western Germany, just 50 miles from the Belgian border. It occupies a largely flat area that spreads both sides of the winding Rhine River. If you have a rent car in Cologne you'll soon find that it is a major modern city and forms part of the Rhine-Ruhr area that's one of Europe's largest urban conglomerations. Nevertheless, the road connections are good: there's a motorway standard ring road, and major roads lead off in all directions. Access to the city centre is easy too; with a series of major arterial and circular roads and plenty of river bridges.
it is easy to get around in a car. You'll find that most of the attractions lie within the motorway ring road. The most famous sight is the Gothic Catholic Cathedral, a World Heritage Site that is Germany's most visited building. The church has enormous proportions; it has the largest facade of any Cathedral in the world. But the rest of the city is worth exploring too: there are more than 30 museums and more than 100 galleries. There's also a renowned nightlife, thanks to a huge range of pubs, clubs and restaurants.
