There are no major surprises though: most of the driving regulations in Germany are similar to the rest of Europe. Beware that police can issue on-the-spot fines and have the authority to confiscate cars if you can't pay. Be reassured that the road network is comprehensive and the roads are generally very good quality. Note, however, that many motorways require toll payments. There are sections of some autobahns that have no speed limits so pay special attention, particularly when changing lanes.
