Hertz in Frankfurt
The first place to head for is Frankfurt's Imperial Cathedral. As well as having a very impressive interior there is also a high tower that you can climb in the spring and summer, and which will give you amazing views of the city and its surroundings. Rent a car in Frankfurt and you will also be able to drive to the cities of Wiesbaden and Mainz as well as to Trier. The latter is thought to be the oldest city in Germany and was originally populated over 4000 years ago. Some (comparatively) recent sights you will be able to enjoy there include a number of Roman buildings and the oldest cathedral in Germany which dates back to 326 AD.
There is a lot more to Frankfurt than simply being a major international convention and exhibition centre. For example it is the fifth largest city in Germany, one of the country's most important centres for finance and it also boasts the headquarters of the European Central Bank. Like most cities in Germany, Frankfurt has seen a lot of architectural change over the 20th century, with a great deal of rebuilding and the construction of whole new areas too. The result is a lively, vibrant city with a big student population who attend the university named after a very famous resident, Goethe.
