Hertz in Florence
You will find the city of Florence astride the Arno River in the northern half of Italy, 170 miles north of Rome and 50 miles from the western Mediterranean coast. If you pick up a rental car in Florence you will be able to tour most of the famous sights and visit the attractions just outside of the city. And of course, the rest of Tuscany will be a short drive away. Pisa, San Gimignano and Siena are all within easy reach. The road connections are good: the A1 motorway skirts round the west side of the city and there are clear arterial roads into the city centre.
Florence is one of Italy's great tourist attractions, thanks to its ancient historic centre and acclaimed collections of Renaissance art. But there are also great palaces and gardens with panoramic views in the surrounding hills. You can visit all of them if you have a rental car in Florence - you will be able to visit landmarks like the Ponte Vecchio Bridge, the Uffizi Gallery and the Duomo Cathedral. There are galleries and museums throughout the city but don't forget to experience the colourful shops, restaurants and cafes too.
