Hertz in Venice
The city of Venice stands on a series of islands off the north east coast of Italy and the area is a renowned tourist destination. If you have a rental car in Venice you will be able to use it to cross the causeway to and from the mainland. This is useful for accessing the airport and attractions further afield, like the neighbouring cities of Padua, Treviso and Vicenza or the beaches of the Venice Lido.
Venice itself is one of the great sights of the world: an intact medieval city and palaces and churches almost floating in its lagoon. The gondolas and canals are famous. If you have a rental car in Venice you would not get any closer to the old city than the west side of the Santa Croce Island. The highlights are legendary: St Mark's Square, The Doge's Palace, the Rialto Bridge and the Bridge of Sighs are among the most photographed spots in the world. But look out too for little family restaurants, colourful shops and traditional ice cream parlours.
