Hertz in Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and receives around 10 million visitors every year, attracted by the stunning and varied landscape, the whole host of activities available and the all-year-round sunshine. Like all of the Canary Islands, it was formed by volcanic rock but that's not to say that it does not have plenty of long sandy beaches to enjoy. With some of the liveliest resorts too it is no wonder it is such a favourite for visitors. Inland and away from the coast it also has many unspoilt villages to explore, especially if you are renting a car in Tenerife.
The capital of the island is called Santa Cruz de Tenerife and is situated on the northwest corner of the island. It is a truly Spanish-style city and boasts a wide range of shops, museums and a very lush and green city park. Its oldest church is the Iglesia de Nuestra Senora de la Concepción, which features a striking bell tower and Moorish architecture. If you rent a car in Tenerife you should make sure you spend at least some of the time exploring the Parque Nacional del Teide, where you can even catch a cable car to the summit of El Teide. At 3718 metres tall, it is the highest mountain in the Canaries.
