You will find Zurich in the north of Switzerland, about 55 miles from Basel to the west and St Gallen to the east. Renting a car in Zurich gives you the opportunity to explore this compact, cosmopolitan city, and the lakes and mountains surrounding it. The city is a major financial centre standing at the northern end of Lake Zurich where the Limmat River flows out to the north. Zurich is on a plateau between the lake and the densely wooded hills and mountains beyond.
