Hertz in Bristol
Bristol is the largest city in south west England. Once one of the most important ports in the UK, today you can still see plenty evidence of the city's maritime past. But it is also a very modern and vibrant city that is fast gaining a reputation for creativity, culture and food with many gastronomic festivals held here throughout the year. The city is divided into various areas, each with its own particular feel and character and by hiring a car in Bristol, you will also be able to drive out and explore the many delights that the West Country has to offer.
Visit the major tourist attraction of SS Great Britain, one of engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel's most famous achievements, and the first ever steam-powered ocean-going liner. You can see another of his great engineering feats in the Clifton Suspension Bridge that spans the River Avon, so you might want to consider renting a car in Southampton to take in this and all that the rest of the city has to offer. Another must-visit is the M Shed. This huge museum, which opened in 2011 in the former dock area of the city and formed part off a major re-development, tells the city's history and is divided into three main areas covering People, Place and Life. Here, you can also take a guided tour that explores the history of the docks.
